Centenarian Maxine Martin, 103, Conway Springs: Nov. 19, 1918 – Dec. 16, 2021

Maxine Martin, 103, of Conway Springs, died Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Spring View Manor, Conway Springs.

Maxine was born November 19, 1918, in Wellington to Charles Lauck and Emma (Daniels) Lauck. She moved with her family numerous times as a child and attended 13 different schools.  She attended school at South Haven, Kansas before attending Geuda Springs High school; Geuda Springs.  She graduated from Geuda Springs High School with the class of 1936.  She continued her education at Cowley County Junior College, Arkansas City, Kansas, and graduated in 1940.  She taught in the Ashton, Kans. rural school from 1941 to 1942 and the Green rural school near Oxford in 1943.

Maxine was united in marriage to Lloyd Laverne Martin on July 5, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They moved to Conway Springs, Kansas in 1945.  Maxine worked at Kyle Trueblood Elementary school as a teacher’s aid for 16 years.  She retired in 1984.  Lloyd died on September 26, 1990.

Maxine was a member of the United Methodist Church, Conway Springs; the American Legion Auxiliary; the Lucky Friday Club and was an active Hospice Volunteer.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Francis Claude Lauck and Marvin Lauck.

Maxine is survived by her son Jerry Martin and wife Cindy of New Concord, Ohio; two daughters: Joyce Martin and husband Clyde of Crofton, Maryland; Connie Bishop of Lubbock, Texas; numerous grandchildren and a number of other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2021, in Conway Spring Cemetery with Chaplin David Benavides of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Interment following in Conway Springs Cemetery, Conway Springs, Kansas.  Ebersole Mortuary, Conway Springs is in charge of arrangements.
