Koy Ast

Sumner Newscow report — Koy Ast, a Conway Springs-Argonia Reds baseball team freshman, is the Big Cheese Athlete of the Week.

Ast has been on a tear on the two-year Reds team that has improved dramatically this season compared to 2024. The CSA Reds are 7-12. Last week, Ast helped CSA go 3-1 with a sweep of South Sumner and split with Chaparral. He was 10-of-13 at the plate, with six RBIs, four runs, one walk, and two stolen bases.

Then, on the mound, he pitched for two innings, facing seven batters, giving up only one hit and striking out four, for a .000 ERA and keeping the opposing batting average to just .143.

For his effort, Ast is the recipient of a large, delicious Big Cheese Pizza at 324 N. Washington in Wellington.
