Conway Springs demolishes Wichita Independent; plays Kingman Saturday at 6 p.m.

Conway Springs won another first round playoff game when it demolished Wichita Independent 54-12 Tuesday.

The Cardinals will now travel to Kingman in the second round of playoffs on Saturday at 6 p.m.

On Tuesday, Conway Springs would open with a 20-6 first quarter lead and held a 47-6 advantage at the half, en route to an easy win on a drizzly cold night of football. 

Travis Wood would score the team’s first two touchdowns from the 1 and 8 in the first quarter. After Wichita Independent scored on a Shase Williams 59 yard touchdown run, Cardinal Dakota Finstad would score on a 45-yard TD to give the Cardinals its two touchdown lead.

Conway Springs then scored on a punt return block and a 43-yard interception runback by Wood to put this game out of reach.

The Cardinals finished with 355 yards rushing. Finstad had 199 of those. The rest of the yardage was spread amongst 11 other rushers. Conway Springs did not attempt a pass. Conway Springs had 34 tackles including 5.5 from Luke Ebenkamp.
