Conway Springs, South Haven get their playoff assignments; Oxford pushes West Elk; Caldwell wins

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — In what seems to be a recurring theme, Sumner County football will depend on a flock of Cardinals.

Conway Springs and South Haven are back in the playoffs as they were last year, and the year before that and the year before that, and the year… you get the picture.

Conway Springs wrapped up another district championship with a 35-8 victory over Douglass. South Haven had no trouble beating Central 50-0.

In other Sumner County action, Oxford gave West Elk a dandy of a game before losing 42-32. Chaparral ripped Belle Plaine 47-12 and Caldwell wrapped up the season with a 32-14 victory over Norwich.

As for the playoffs, Conway Springs will host Wichita Independent on Tuesday in Class 3A (see 3A bracket here)
