Conway Springs wins in two-day affair over W. Independent 26-6
Sumner Newscow report — In what might be the longest half time in Conway Springs history, the Cardinals took a 14-6 halftime lead Friday afternoon. The second half started at 6 p.m. Saturday evening. The Cardinals would win 26-6.
Storms blew through at halftime in Conway Springs game that started two hours earlier than normal at 5 p.m.
The game itself was not well played. Hot, humidity was taking its toll on the team on Friday. When Saturday rolled around it was hard to keep minds on football.
The game itself seemed to be closer than people thought. Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter and Wichita Independent drew first blood with a 60-yard touchdown run 11:20 in the second.
Conway Springs quarterback Colton Terhune threw to Jacob Winter for 45 yards for the Cards first score. Later Riley Akiu scored on a 1-yard run.Â
In the third quarter on Saturday, Conway Springs scored on a blocked punt followed by fumble and return. Not sure how it came out.
