Country Proud Benefit Concert to support Sherman Kelsey Cancer Fund is Dec. 8
Sumner Newscow report — Sherman Kelsey of Wellington is a disabled Vietnam veteran diagnosed with melanoma cancer. He has received treatment at the Robert Dole VA facility; however, the melanoma has metastasized into the lungs and he can no longer tolerate conventional treatment.

His oncologist is recommending a drug trial. The VA has approved funding for one limited consultation and two biopsies at MD Anderson in Houston but not travel, lodging or related expenses. Further consultations, testing and treatment would be self pay, in addition to lodging and travel.
Sherman worked part time as a handyman, but his ability to work is now limited.Sherman is the husband of Wanda Kelsey, office manager for the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB.
The goal of the organization is to raise $5,000 to help with continued consultations, testing, treatment and other related expenses. A fund has been established at Panhandle Federal Credit Union, 403 North Washington Ave., Wellington, Ks. 67152. Attention Sherman Kelsey Medical Fund.
