County Roundup: South Sumner stays undefeated, Oxford wins big, Conway Springs gets 1st win

Sumner Newcow report — The following is a roundup of Sumner County games from Friday night:

South Sumner 68 Sedan 20 

South Sumner has yet to see the second half taking out another team by mercy rule at the half.

Sedan actually took a 6-0 lead on a 63-yard pass to open the game (remember eight-man fields are 80 yards).

But it was all Outlaws for the rest of the game. Alex Smith would score five rushing touchdowns. Mak Blosser threw for three more and had a quarterback touchdown run. Blosser was an impressive 13-of-14 passing for 212 yards.

Overall, South Sumner had 410 yards of total offense – 212 passing and 198 rushing. Sedan didn’t help itself, committing four turnovers. Full stats can be found here.

Oxford 58 Cedar Vale/Dexter 32

Oxford improved to 2-1 with a big win. Quarterback Jonathan Schroeder accounted for four first-half touchdowns.

Argonia-Attica 52 Pratt Skyline 28

Argonia Attica remains undefeated in a game that was in doubt going into the fourth quarter.

The Titans led 16-14 at the end of the first quarter and held a 22-14 lead at the half. A&A added a touchdown and 2-point covering in the third quarter to take a 30-14 lead into the fourth quarter.

A&A outscored Skyline 22-14 in the fourth.

Quarterback Dalton Morrison ran for 196 yards on 26 carries in the winning cause and accounted for six touchdowns. He was 3 of 7 for 122 yards passing. The stats can be found here. Please note on the stats, it says Morrison has 296 yards. That is incorrect. It is 196 yards.

Conway Springs 42 Chaparral 7

The Cardinals are back on the winning side, and expect more of that in the coming weeks.

Conway Springs grabbed a 21-0 lead and was in front 35-0 at the half. Both teams scored one touchdown in the second half.

Brayden Kunz was back in business, rushing for 212 yards and three touchdowns. Conway Springs had 506 yards total offense to Chaparral’s 138.

Pleasanton 31 Belle Plaine 12

Belle Plaine fell to 1-2 with a 31-12 loss to Pleasanton in a game played at Chanute.
