Dan Hefley, age 61, died Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Richard Daniel Hefley was born on March 30th, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri to Jack and Rose (Kerby) Hefley. He graduated from East Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1978.

Dan and Kim (Musick) were united in marriage on May 21st, 1983 in Perry, Okla.

He attended Oklahoma State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Zoology in 1982 and then his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1987. He remained a loyal Oklahoma State University fan after graduation.

Dr. Hefley proudly owned Arrowhead Animal Clinic, serving Wellington for over 30 years.

He was an actively involved member of the First Christian Church where he served as both a Deacon and an Elder. He was also an Eagle Scout and Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed teaching and mentoring the younger generation and helped several mentees prepare for future careers in science and technical fields. Dr. Dan was a proud father of his three children and enjoyed coaching their sports teams. He was also known for his soul-healing stellar hugging ability, a gift handed down by his amazing father Jack. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Kim of Wellington; two sons, Kerby and wife Kristen Hefley of St. Louis, MO and Troyce and wife Annie Hefley of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Shanlyn and husband Zach Cooper of Wellington; brother, John and wife Laura Hefley of Tulsa, Okla.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a Grandbaby Girl expected in the next week or two.

Dr. Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Rose; and brother, Robert Hefley.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1. to 7 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2022, with the family present from to 7 p.m.

Celebration of life service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Wellington. 

The family requests masks be worn if you are planning to attend services with respect for Dan’s wishes.

Memorial funds have been established in his loving memory to Dr. Dan’s Healthy Paws Fund and to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
