David Frank of Wellington arrested on felony charges after crashing car into residential garage

Sumner Newscow report — David Frank, 29, of Wellington is facing multiple felony charges after a high-speed chase that was followed by him crashing his vehicle into a Wellington residential garage door earlier this month.

Frank, who was previously charged for violating a protection order misdemeanor, was discovered by a Sumner County Sheriff deputy driving a maroon sedan on the morning of May 6.

Allegedly, the deputy had given visual or audible signals for him to pull over, but Frank decided to flee.

Sumner County Captain Mike Westmoreland, in a press release, stated that the chase started around 7 a.m. but was called off due to the high amount of traffic at the time. The deputies then lost sight of him.

Frank, allegedly, drove around the corner of 13th and North H and lost control of his car. He went up the driveway of the Lee and Brenda Nelson driveway at 804 North H and hit the center post between the doors of the garage. The car went halfway into the garage.

Frank would then flee on foot and was hiding in a corner of a porch at 811 N. Blaine Street when law enforcement was called to the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office was first on the scene and worked the accident as the suspect was hiding. Once apprehended he allegedly had methamphetamine and a purple case and syringe containing a methamphetamine substance.

When he was caught, he allegedly told officers he didn’t know who the deputies were looking for when they were looking for him.

The county attorney’s office filed charges against Frank last week for:

•Possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 felony;

•Possession of drug paraphernalia, Class B misdemeanor;

•Interference with a law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor;

•Fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer resulting in a motor vehicle accident, a level 9 felony;

•Interference with law enforcement, level 9 felony.
