Dedy D. Wise, 98, Wellington: Nov. 16, 1923 – Feb. 27, 2022
Dedy D. Wise, of Wellington, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita at the age of 98.
Dedy was born the daughter of Henry and Marie (Harris) Church on November 16, 1923, in Portland, Oregon.
On September 26, 1940, Dedy and Leon Allenbach were married in Newton until his passing in October 1942. With that union, Deede Marie Allenbach Kent was born. Dedy found love again and married Willard Wise on August 16, 1943. They celebrated 42 years of marriage before his passing in October of 1985.
During WWII, Dedy worked at Boeing in Wichita assisting with the assembly of the B 29. After Willard returned from the Pacific theater, Dedy was a stay-at-home Mom, raising six children. After the children were grown, she worked at Locket’s Jewelry in Wellington for 11 years. Dedy loved to go to garage sales, collect antiques, creating hook rugs, and embroidery. She excelled at baking and making her infamous macaroni and cheese. She was also one of the original members of the Hillside Baptist Church when it open its doors in 1962.
Survivors include her son, Scott Wise (Harriet) of Winfield; daughters: Deede Kent (Richard) of Aransas Pass, Texas; Diana Brownlee of South Haven; Debbie Kiser (Jerry) of Argonia; 68 of five generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, along with several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leon Allenbach and Willard Wise; son, Buddy Wise; daughter, Donna Brinkmeyer; granddaughter, Denise Kent; grandson, Justin Wise; great-granddaughter, Kendall Byers.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022, with the family present from 5 to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Dedy will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Hillside Baptist Church in Wellington.
Interment will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington
A memorial fund has been established in her loving memory to the Wellington Food Bank, Wellington Humane Society, and Hillside Baptists Church in Wellington. Contributions may be mailed of left with the funeral home.
