Dr. Rittle of Cowley College to unveil plans for Sumner Campus
Sumner Newscow report — Community members are invited to learn more about the proposed Cowley College campus development in Sumner County at a campaign kickoff breakfast on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at 8 a.m. at the Raymond Frye Complex in Wellington.
Dr. Dennis C. Rittle, president of Cowley College, will unveil a campus rendering, detail some of the programming the campus would offer, and answer questions about the planned $12 million dollar campus construction.
“We’re excited to share with the community more details about our educational programming and the long-term commitment we’re making to Sumner County,†said Dr. Rittle. “Our goal is to ensure all voters understand the scope of the project and the multitude of ways individuals and community members will benefit from vocational and general education offerings within the county.â€
Sumner County commissioners recently approved language to put on the November 8 ballot the Cowley College campus proposal. Voters will be asked to approve a half-cent sales tax increase that expires in ten years. Revenue generated from the sales tax increase will be used to build the college campus in Wellington.
“Support for the project among the student population and area employers has been strong,†said Rittle. “The best way to advance in today’s world is through education. We’re looking forward to being part of the Sumner County community and providing multiple ways for educational advancement in the region.â€
