Fibert pleads no contest to charges in Condit hit-and-run accident
Sumner Newscow report — Andrew Fibert, 21, of Wichita, has entered a plea of no contest to a felony and misdemeanor surrounding the March 15 hit-and-run death of Adam Condit, a Wellington High School graduate.
As part of a plea agreement between the defense and prosecution, Fibert has agreed to a plea of no contest of leaving the scene of an accident, a felony; and driving under the influence, a misdemeanor.
Fibert will be sentenced by a Sedgwick County judge on Sept. 25. Fibert could get a jail sentence of six months for each count and a mandatory fine of $750. The judge will have to determine whether Fibert will serve those counts consecutively (one after the other) or concurrently (at the same time).
Condit died after Fibert hit him at the 5800 block of West Windmill Road near Sedgwick County Zoo at 12:06 a.m.
Fibert has admitted guilt to driving a dark blue Dodge Ram 1500 pickup while driving westbound on Windmill Road, a diagonal road, from Zoo Blvd., passing another vehicle, and striking Condit, who was walking northbound across Windmill.
