Gloria Ann Roberts, 73, Wellington: July 13, 1945 – Oct. 11, 2018
Gloria Ann Roberts, age 73, lifelong Wellington resident, died Thursday morning, October 11, 2018 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Gloria retired from working at Sumner Regional Medical Center after a long career in medical records.
Gloria Ann (King) Roberts was born on July 13, 1945 in Wellington, KS to James E. King and Mary Lee (Gaskill) King. She was raised in Wellington and was a WHS graduate with the Class of 1963.
She married Maurice D. Roberts on July 1, 1982 at the First Christian Church in Wellington, KS.
Gloria was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church. She loved her horse and riding, camping, spending time with her family, playing cards, and dominos.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Wood and her grandparents, George and Louise King.
Survivors include her husband, Maurice Roberts of Wellington; daughter, Becky Brecheisen and her husband Mike of Viola, KS; step-daughters, Alycia Bradford and her husband Scott of Georgetown, TX, Amiee Defore and her husband John of Hiawatha, KS, Betsy Morris and her husband Scott of Georgetown, TX; parents, James and Mary Lee King of Wellington; brother Steve King and his wife Sheila of Wellington; sister, Janet Wirths of Shell Knob, MO; and seven grandchildren, Megan Gellrich, Marissa Gellrich, Baxter Defore and his wife Morgan, Jasmine Defore, Elizabeth Morris, Zachery Morris and Wyatt Morris.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Christian Church on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. Pastor James Byers will officiate. There will be a private family interment after the service at Union Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 1 to 8 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials have been established in Gloria’s name with the First Christian Church and the Wellington Food Bank. Contributions can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
