Henry Big Boy 30-30 rifle raffle tickets nearly sold out
by John Monro, special to Sumner Newscow — The raffle ticket sales for the Henry Big Boy 30-30 rifle benefiting the Wellington Food Bank has been a roaring success. The only vendors that still have tickets left for sale are The Gold Corner, which also still has the raffle rifle serial number 2 on display and Wheatland Services.
All the other vendors have sold all their remaining tickets.  The remaining tickets still for sale have been distributed to The Gold Corner, Wheatland Services and to Jane Cole, with Farmers Insurance. Â
Cole has agreed to be our on-site vendor during the Wheat Festival, and will be attending most of the activities and events during this time. Â For those of you who are not familiar with Jane, be on the look-out for a hot pink golf cart, if you find it, you’ll also find Jane. When ever these vendors run out of tickets, that’s it. Â We would like to claim that there will be tickets still for sale to cover all the different events, but the demand lately has proven that it’s probably not going to happen. Â If anyone hasn’t yet seen one of these rifles, stop by have a look, and if your still wanting to purchase any tickets, I suggest you don’t wait.
The auction for rifle number one will be held downtown on the stage in front of the Memorial Auditorium directly following the drawing for rifle number two. Â We plan to begin the drawing and auction at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 9. Â
Larry Theurer has graciously volunteered to be our auctioneer. Â The successful raffle winner will not need to be present to win, and will be contacted during the drawing, if possible. Â The successful bidder for rifle number one can take possession of said rifle at the end of the auction, or schedule a more convenient time at a later date. Â Both the raffle winner and auction winner will need to submit to a background check prior to taking possession of the rifles, and the minimum age is 18 yrs. Â Anyone not living in the state of Kansas and being the winner of either the raffle or auction will be able to take possession here, or arrangements will be made to ship rifle to a FFL dealer of their choice in their home state. Â We are looking forward to seeing a huge turnout for our event, and hope to see everyone there.
