Historic house at 224 South F is demolished
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The colonial house at 224 S. F. Street is no longer.
H-Excavating in Belle Plaine knocked the two-story house, built in 1900, to the ground yesterday and is cleaning up the debris today.
The deterioration of the house became a 17-year struggle between the city of Wellington and the property owner.
That saga ended this week after the Wellington City Council held two hearings and allowed the 45-day period of condemnation without any action from the property owner to save the structure.Â
