House fire this morning in Wellington causes $54,000 worth of damage, no injuries

(Updated with additional information) Sumner Newscow report — A house fire at 1221 North A Street in Wellington early this morning caused $54,000 worth of damages. There were no injuries and all occupants exited the premises safely.

At 1:17 a.m., the Wellington Fire Department received a call that the Brian Love residence was on fire.

Upon arrival they found a one-story home with heavy fire conditions on the rear deck extending into the home. Firefighters began extinguishing the rear of the home and then entered through the front door to extinguish the fire and search for any occupants. They had already exited safely. There was extensive fire and smoke damage throughout the home. A pickup at the rear of the residence also suffered damage from the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The homeowners were not living at the residence due to a previous fire a few months ago. The home was in the process of being remodeled, however three people were staying at the home at the time of the fire.

There was 17 personnel at the scene with three engines, one ambulance, one ladder, and a pickup. There was mutual aid received from Fire District 9, Oxford, and Mayfield.
