Jack Lee Yount, Sr., 86, Wichita: Feb. 14, 1936 – June 1, 2022
Jack Lee Yount, Sr. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 1, 2022, at his home in Wichita at the age of 86. Jack was born the son of Oscar and Rose (Lemond) Yount on February 14, 1936, in Keego Harbor, Michigan.
On November 8, 1956, Jack married his bride, Gabriela Macias, in Junction City and together they shared 65 years as husband and wife.
Jack was a man who loved his family and proudly called Jesus Christ his Savior and Lord. He was a patriot who always put God, family, and country above all else. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1961 and was a veteran of the Korean War. Jack was a huge sports fan overall but was particularly a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed playing golf when he wasn’t spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Gabriela Yount of Wichita; his son, Jack Yount, Jr. of Wichita; and daughters, Jennifer Yount of Wichita; Crystal Duckworth (Jeff) of Derby; and Roxanne Yount of Wichita; grandsons Justin Pate of Wichita; Sam Morris of Wichita; Jared Wilkinson of Wichita; and Ryan Duckworth of Australia; half-brothers, William Yount of Kentucky; and Robert Yount of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Yount.
Funeral services for Jack will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2022, in the chapel of Cornejo Funeral Home, 1030 Mission Rd., Wellington.
Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Kansas Veteran Cemetery, Winfield.
A memorial fund has been established in his loving memory to the D.A.V. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
