James Allen Fuhrmann, 73, Wellington: Dec. 24, 1952 – May 18, 2026
James Allen Fuhrmann, known affectionately as Jim, passed away on May 18, 2026. Born on December 24, 1952, in Wellington, KS, Jim led a life defined by his smart decisions, reliable nature, compassionate heart, and spirited personality. A lifelong resident of Kansas, he wore many hats throughout his life – a dedicated farmer, a skilled forklift driver, a well-known landscaper, and a train enthusiast. His interests were as diverse as they were numerous, but everything he undertook was characterized by an unwavering dedication and an innate desire to excel.
Jim’s educational journey began in Riverdale, Kansas, progressing to Caldwell High School, and then to Pittsburg State. He later studied at the National Academy of Railroad Sciences, pursuing his lifelong passion for trains. His love for rail fanning and model trains was well known among his friends and family.
In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his best friend, Guy, shooting guns, and doing target practice. He was also a gifted water skier and an ardent dog lover, with a particular affection for Beagles and Chiweenies. Jim’s life was a testament to his hard work and determination, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to his loved ones and his community.
Jim is survived by his mother, Gloria Fuhrmann, his sons Jesse (Ginny) Fuhrmann and Jon (Gina) Fuhrmann, his daughter Tiffany Gould, his honorary brother Guy Gentry, and his grandchildren Emily and Jacob Gould, and Lucas and Axel Fuhrmann. He held a special place in his heart for his children and his dogs, cherishing them till his last moments. His father, Norman Fuhrmann, preceded him in death.
A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Corbin Country Church, located at 1126 South Robin Road, Caldwell, Kansas, 67022. The service will be an opportunity for friends and family to pay their respects, share stories, and celebrate the life of a man who touched so many. Interment will follow at Corzine Cemetery in Corbin, Kansas.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wellington Humane Society. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
