James Bernard “Bern” Vohs, of Wellington, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at his home in Wellington at the age of 93.

Bern was born the son of Harry and Geraldine (Calnon) Vohs on September 6, 1930, in McDonald, Kans.

On September 25, 1947, Bern and Donna Brown were united in marriage, and together the two created countless memories for 76 wonderful years.

A smart and talented individual, Bern had an illustrious career as a Petroleum Engineer with Schlumberger Oil Company for over 30 years before his retirement.

His contributions to the engineering field were recognized when he earned an honorary Ph.D. from the University of Stanford for his invaluable help in publishing a physics book. He was a brilliant engineer and a gifted woodworker, often spending his time in his workshop. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing in Gunnison, CO. A dedicated history buff, Bern could often be found immersed in historical texts, forever expanding his knowledge and understanding of the world and sharing it with those around him. Burn and Donna also enjoyed seeing the world together as they traveled to over 40 countries.

Most of all, Bern truly loved his family and would always spoil his grandchildren and great-grandchildren any chance he could.
