Jimmy ‘Steven’ Larimore, 74, Wichita: Feb. 11, 1950 – March 26, 2024
Jimmy “Steven” Larimore, 74, of Wichita, died at his home on March 26, 2024, with his son and daughter at his side. Steve was born in Wellington, KS, on February 11, 1950, to James Marvin and Doris Ilene (Gallagher) Larimore. He attended Wellington schools and graduated in 1968. Steve married Yvonna Claiborne in November of 1968, and two children were born to this union. They divorced in 1996.
Steve entered the United States Air Force in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1976. During these years, he and his family were stationed in Biloxi, MS, Hof, Germany, and Fort Bragg, CA. Steve attended Wichita State University after his time in the Air Force. He spent the majority of his career as an electronics technician for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2015. Steve had many varying talents and could repair/build nearly anything. He was an amazing gardener and provided many years of a bountiful crop for his family. His children wish to note how amazingly lucky they feel to have had him as their beloved father.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, James and Doris Larimore; brother Billy Wayne Larimore; and sister Kathy June Schafer.
Steve is survived by his son Vincent “Steven” Larimore of Wichita, KS; Daughter Heather (Larimore) Judd of Winfield, KS; Sister Penny Regier of Sedgwick, KS; Grandchildren Halie Larimore, Sage, Elliot, and Lucas “Steven” Judd; and longtime girlfriend Paula Shear of Wichita, KS.
There are no services scheduled, and cremation has been effected. A military marker will be placed in the Perth, KS Cemetery where Steve’s parents and siblings rest.
