John McConnell of South Haven sentenced to 308 months in prison for manufacturing meth
John David McConnell, 51, of South Haven, was sentenced to 308 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for manufacturing methamphetamine by Judge R. Scott McQuin in Sumner County District Court. In addition, McConnell was sentenced to six months for criminal possession of firearm, 11 months for possession of drug precursor, 11 months for possession of methamphetamine, 11 months for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and 6 months for possession of marijuana with no tax stamp. McQuin ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
A Sumner County jury convicted McConnell of the charges last month.
The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, Cowley County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Kay County, Okla., Sheriff’s Office. Assistant Attorney General Greg Benefiel of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
