Juanita Evans, 88, of Wellington died Monday, February 15, 2016 at her home in Wellington.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Shelley Family Funeral home of Wellington from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. A memorial has been established with Gentiva Hospice and may be left with Shelley Family Funeral Home. Juanita Glorene was born March 12, 1927, the daughter of Ben and Margaret (Hoback) Thomas in Hardy, Oklahoma. She graduated from the Winfield High School in 1945. Juanita was united in marriage to Jerry Evans. Juanita was a secretary doing bookkeeping for physicians and the William Newton Hospital and later worked for the Department of Transportation. Juanita was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star of Winfield. She enjoyed sight-seeing and cooking for her family.Juanita is survived by her loving husband, Jerry of the home; sons: Jerry Evans Jr. and his wife Kathy of Oxford and David Evans and his partner Lynn Hutchinson of Wichita; 3 grandchildren: Mike and Maggie Evans, Amanda and Cody Havner and Nicole Evans; 10 greatgrandchildren; and 2 sisters: Virginia Thomas/Rothfuss of Hormel, NY and Mary Ellen Thomas/Jones and her husband Richard of Derby; nieces and nephews: Bennie Jones and Nancy, James Jones and Robin, Carol Ann Estes and Donald, Mark Jones and Thany, Michael Jones, Joseph Jones, Pauline Jones and Paul and Paula Jones; great nieces and nephews: Josi and Jenni Jones, Mary Estes, Destiny, Dusty, Malie, and Jaylny Jones, Clay and Christopher Jones; and a cousin, Betty Ross.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
