by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — This week’s Big Cheese Athletes of the Week are Kami Reichenberger and Ashlyn Gerten, both Wellington seniors for the undefeated Lady Dukes basketball team.
Gerten and Reichenberger also shared the Queen of Defense award after last Friday’s 56-34 victory over Clearwater. The girls held the Indians’ top two scorers, Carli Carlson and Elizabeth Tjaden to a combined 15 points. They also helped create 15 steals and hold Clearwater to a 32 percent shooting percentage. The victory lifted the Crusaders to an 8-0 record.
For their effort, each girl receives a large delicious Big Cheese Pizza at 324 N. Washington.
