Kansas Wheat Festival Parade has been moved from tonight to tomorrow morning
Sumner Newscow report — The Wheat Festival parade for tonight has been rescheduled from tonight to tomorrow at 9 a.m. due to impending weather reports.
The following is a message from the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Valarie Earl:
“We have been watching the weather VERY closely today (all day!) With the impending possible conditions, we have decided that in the interest of the safety of our participants, staff, volunteers, and community, it is best to cancel the parade for this evening.
However, we are planning to reschedule for tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. with the same route and same lineup. I know that may not be cohesive for the schedules of everyone involved. This was our best solution to try to have a 2023 Kansas Wheat Festival Parade still.
I am sorry, and have been trying to wait until the last minute to decide. Unfortunately, we can’t control the weather!!!
Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
Also, our music for tonight, MONEYSHOT, has been moved into our air-conditioned Memorial Auditorium.
We encourage you to come downtown still to enjoy the music and support our Food Truck vendors.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.”
