KDOT: Road-crack seal work to begin on K-49 in Sumner County
Sumner Newscow report — Starting around Wednesday, April 1, workers will be sealing pavement cracks on about 32 miles of K-49, mostly in Sumner County.
The work will be done in three stretches:
- On about a 17-mile section from the junction with U.S. 81 to the east junction with U.S. 160.
- On about a 14-mile stretch from the west junction with U.S. 160 to the Sumner/Sedgwick County line.
- On about a 1-mile section from the Sumner/Sedgwick County line to K-42 in Sedgwick County.
During the work, traffic will be limited to one lane and controlled by a pilot car, so motorists should expect some delay and be prepared to slow down and stop. Work will proceed in 2-mile to 3-mile sections at a time.
The project, being overseen by the Kansas Department of Transportation, is expected to be completed around April 15, depending on the weather.
The primary contractor for the $111,519 project is Scodeller Construction Inc.
