Knights Roundup: 7th girls win Richard Lawrence, WMS tennis team wins

Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington Middle School hosted the Richard Lawrence Relays Thursday afternoon at the local track facility. The Wellington seventh-grade girls won their division. The Wellington eighth-grade girls placed third. The seventh-grade boys placed sixth and the eighth-grade boys finished third.

There were nine schools at the track meet including Valley Center, Augusta, Circle, Andover Central, Mulvane, Clearwater, Haysville and Haysville West.

Wellington was especially successful in the relay events. All four age groups swept the 4×100 meter relays.

Wellington Middle School individual winners are as follows:

•8th boys discus – Milo Elder, 136-1.5.

•7th long jump – Dru Zeka, 14-9.5.

•7th high jump- Dru Zeka, 4-8.

•7th girls 4×100 relay – 55.39.

•7th boys 4×100 relay – 54.34.

•8th girls, 4×100 relay – 54.42.

•8th boys, 4×100 relay – 49.11.

•8th boys, 400 – Tatum Edwards, 1:04.93.

•8th girls, 800 – Dru Zeka, 2:43.43.

•8th girls 800 medley relay – 2:13.68.

•8th girls 1600 medley relay – 5:14.50.

•8th girls 200 hurdles – Bri Walker, 31.91.

•8th boys 4×400 relay – 4:10.55.

The Wellington Middle School Boys Tennis Team traveled to Prairie Hills yesterday.  The Knights defeated their opponent. Individual winners were:  Maverick Peterson, Brodee Lough, Kyler Glazier, Cade Rains, Solomon Ledesma, Noah Schmitz, Preston Devine, Troy Kuecker and Liam Swingle.
