Letter to the editor: Don’t like your property tax increase? Attend a public hearing
To the editor:
Last Thursday I attended the Wellington Township public hearing to consider their 2022 tax proposal. My wife and I were the only citizens present that protested a tax increase. Even though the township did not identify any significant work increase next year, a resolution was passed unanimously to increase the tax burden by about 16 percent. Note that Edelman Financial Services is projecting this year’s COLA increase will be about 6 percent.
So, my fellow citizens can now look forward to paying higher property taxes, regardless of apparent need. If you are also not happy with this situation of seeing continually raising property taxes well above the cost of living, perhaps you could attend the next public hearing which will be about a year from now. There are also various other public hearings that will be held to propose further tax changes.
