Linda Jo (Childers) Fair, 81, Wellington: July 4, 1941 – July 17, 2022
Linda Jo (Childers) Fair, wonderful wife, mother, and Nana died on Sunday, July 17 at the Harry Hynes Hospice floor of Ascension Via Christi hospital in Wichita, at the age of 81.
She was born on July 4, 1941, in Enid, Okla. to James R. and Laurine (Wagner). She was welcomed home by her brother James R Childers Jr.
Linda was very involved in 4H growing up. Poultry, sheep, cooking, and sewing were her projects of choice.
Linda and Gary met in Manhattan at the 4H Senior Leaders Round Up Conference in high school. Their first date was at the dance that night and he walked her back to Van Zile Hall.
Linda was a 1963 Graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in Home Economics and Extension Services.
She married Gary Fair in the summer of 1963 at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church. They made their home in Westmoreland where she served as the Pottawatomie Extension agent. She served in the Westy Service Club and enjoyed all the projects of small-town living. In 1976 the family made their way to Wellington. She worked in the offices of various businesses and ultimately retired from Marconi Aerospace (BAE).
She was a wonderful supporter of anything her children and grandchildren were involved in. She never missed an event and was so very proud of all her family. She was a creator of all things beautiful. She enjoyed sewing, painting, quilting, and crafting in general. She loved going to the local Beehive Quilt Shop for fabric pinching and fellowship.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother James R. Junior.
She is survived by her husband Gary of 59 years; her three children: Jaimie (Jay) Bannister, Brent (Stacey) Fair, and Coni (Eric) Adams. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one more arriving in October. They include Bethanie (Lance) Brooks and their children Mattea and Taysom, Ceth Bannister, Chris (Chelsea) Fair, Aaron (Michaela) Fair and their children Elouise, Everleigh and Easton, Kalyn Fair and her son Ransom, Colby Fair, Erianne Adams and her Fiancé Drake Saffell and Peyton (Joel) Spain and their daughter Lillian.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations in her memory be made to the Sumner County 4-H Development Fund. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
