Lynn (Hatcher) Lipshy, 83, Wellington native: April 8, 1943 – July 5, 2026
Lynn Lipshy was born in St. Paul, Minn., and grew up in Wellington.
She attended Vassar College and the University of Kansas, and moved to Dallas, TX in 1967.
Lynn served on a variety of boards, from Dallas Challenge to the ADL A World of Difference Institute to the AIDS Arms, Inc. founding board. She was appointed to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and the Texas Civil Rights Commission.
After moving to Austin in 1996, Lynn had a 21 career as a development and major gifts director for the University of Texas. Her guidance, community leadership, and charm will be missed by so many.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bruce A. Lipshy; sister Lou Hatcher Kryder; daughter Carson Clement Arkinson (John); stepson Marc Lipshy (Melissa); stepdaughter Jennifer Lipshy Karpeles (Jason); and twelve grandchildren. Donations may be made to Hospice Austin’s Christopher House and to the ACLU.
