Madeline Lucille Dejmal, 99, Wellington: Feb. 1, 1927 – Feb. 12, 2026
Madeline Lucille Dejmal, known by many as Lucille, died on February 12, 2026, in Wellington. Born on February 1, 1927, in Douglass, Madeline was a woman of wit, compassion, dedication, and love. A loving mother, sister, and grandmother, Madeline enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunset, spending time with her grandchildren, feeding squirrels, and observing the world around her.
Throughout her life, Madeline was a dedicated caregiver in the public health sector. She was born in Douglass, KS, and also lived part of her life in Belle Plaine, KS. Her compassion and dedication were evident not only in her professional life but also in her personal life. What mattered most to Madeline was spending time with her family and ensuring their well-being.
Madeline leaves behind her daughters, Sally (Ron) Dick and Brenda Baker, her son Kenneth DeFore, her sister Viola Drouillard, her eight grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her father Elmer Edwards, her mother Luella Edwards, her son Harold “Buster” DeFore Jr., and her sisters Audrey Grow and Juanita Edwards.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
