Man sustains minor burns after structure fire in Wellington
Sumner Newscow report — A Wellington man sustained minor burns after a structure fire yesterday afternoon at 1211 S. H St.
At 5:49 p.m. yesterday, the Wellington Fire Department responded to a structure fire and found heavy smoke and flames at the rear of the structure. The fire was contained to the exterior siding and eaves of the structure. The interior sustained slight smoke damage.
Fire crews vented the structure to remove the smoke. The fire was caused by a malfunctioning propane tank on a gas grill.
Mickel Hartley, the owner/occupant of the home, suffered minor burns and was treated and released a the Wellington emergency room.
Estimated loss was $15,000. The Mayfield Fire Department provided mutual aid. Eight personnel were on the scene with one engine, a quint, an ambulance, and a brush truck.
