Manuel ‘Manny’ Ramirez, 68, Wellington: Feb. 7, 1953 – April 1, 2021
Manuel “Manny” Ramirez died on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita at the age of 68. He was born the son of Tobias and Tiburcia (Venegas) Ramirez on February 7, 1953 in Wellington. Manny graduated from Wellington and attended a couple of years of college. He was employed as a machinist for over 20 years at the Grady Foundry in Wichita. Manny then spent the past nine years as a driver for Railcrew Express in Wellington.
On January 17, 1996, he and his wife, Ramona, were united in marriage in Wellington. Together they celebrated 25 years of marriage. Manny, Ramona and their sons enjoyed taking trips to Mexico and California over the years. He also took many trips to the casino and loved spending time at the slot machines. Manny kept himself busy around the house by taking excellent care of his yard and looked forward to the Spring so he could watch his beloved New York Yankees. While Manny wasn’t known to cook, he loved to eat and enchiladas were his favorite. He loved being with his family and especially looked forward to time spent with his grandchildren. His smile, laugh and kindness will be missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona Ramirez of Wellington; daughter, Misty Finley (Chad) of Haysville; daughter, Mikki Ramirez of Wellington; son, Josef Ramirez of Wellington; son, Hudson Ramirez of Wellington, grandchildren: Julia, Amara and Vincent Finley of Haysville and Aidan, Melody, Myla, Avery, Mirianna Gallegos of Wellington, his brothers: Joseph Ramirez (Elisa) of Wellington, Tony Ramirez (Jenny) of Winfield, Raymond Ramirez of Wellington, John Ramirez (Allura) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Paul Ramirez (Debbie) of Wichita, Tom Ramirez (Renee) of Castaic, California, Larry Ramirez (Sheri) of Wichita; his sister, Delores Rodriguez (Lucas) of Wichita along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021, with the family present to receive friends from 3 to 5:00 p.m. If attending, please plan to wear a face mask.
A private Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony – St. Rose Catholic Church, Wellington. Interment will take place at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington.
A memorial fund has been established in his name to the St. Rose Scholarship Fund, 210 North B Street, Wellington 67152. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
