Margarita ‘Margie’ Castaneda, 73, Caldwell: Jan. 22, 1953 – Jan. 23, 2026
Margarita “Margie” Castaneda, of Caldwell, died on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the age of 73.
Born on the January 22, 1953, she was a woman of vivacious character and would light up every room she entered with her radiant personality and spirit of love. Her life was a colorful tapestry, much like the tie-dye patterns she so adored. Margie was a self-professed hippie at heart, embodying the ethos of peace, love, and harmony. She was known to bring life and laughter wherever she went, always seeking out the next adventure with her friends and family.
Margie’s life was a testament to her unwavering love for her family, especially her beloved husband, Raymond, whom she affectionately called “Honey”. Her love for him was all-encompassing. Margie’s devotion extended to her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She even moved houses many times to be closer to them, a testament to the deep bond she shared with her family. She lived her life for them, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones.
Margie is survived by her grandchildren: James Provencio; Ashley (Clint) Prochaska; Sylvester Provencio; Renay Provencio; Johnny Provencio; great-grandchildren: J.J. Provencio; Marcus Provencio; Johnathan Provencio; Tim Stevenson; Ty Stevenson; Rosie Cameron; D.J. Cameron; and Matteo Provencio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Severino and Celia Guerra; her husband, Raymond Castaneda; her son, Sylvester “Rooster” Gonzales; and her daughter, Rebecca Gonzales.
A viewing for Margie will be held on Wednesday, January 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1030 Mission Rd., Wellington 67152.
