Mary Sherrard

Mary Charlotte Sherrard, born January 25, 1924, died of complications of a stroke and advanced cancer in Wellington on October 2, 2016.

Mary was the youngest of four children born to Ava Laura Sherrard (Jones) and Harry Clifford Sherrard. Mary never married, instead residing with her parents until their deaths in 1973.

For many years Mary worked as a care-giver to the elderly at various locations in Wellington. Her artistic passion was hand work, and she was an accomplished seamstress, producing a large quantity of quilts, napkins, pillows and other finely decorated pieces.

After a fall in 2005, Mary moved into Sterling House (now Brookdale in Wellington) where she remained until she suffered a stroke in August this year. While recovering from her stroke, Mary was diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer. After moving to Wellington Health and Rehab, Mary succumbed to her illness. Mary is survived by three nieces and three nephews.

Memorial services for Mary will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, Wellington. Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington.
