Mary (Wallace) Ewing, of Cheney, died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita at the age of 60.

Mary was born the daughter of Leo and Mary (Hawkins) Wallace on Thursday, January 14, 1954 in El Dorado.  She grew up in El Dorado and Potwin until her family began moving due to her father’s work. Mary eventually moved to Hutchinson where she met Jerry Hoss.

They two married and to this union had three children. They later divorced and Mary met Ralph Ewing. On June 16, 1996, Mary and Ralph were united in marriage at their home in Clifton. Together they celebrated 18 years of marriage. Mary and Ralph were dog breeders and truly loved each of their dogs. Mary was very particular of who she let have one of her four legged babies. She was a hard worker that tried not let her cancer keep her from work. She missed being around her customers and friends when she could no longer work.

Survivors include her husband Ralph Ewing of the home, daughters: Kristel Hoss of Wichita and Margaret Hoss of Goddard; son, Dustin Hoss of Wellington, step daughters: Shelli White and Jennifer Hurley of Mulvane; step-son, Chad Ewing of Haysville, four grandchildren: Nicholas, Trenton, Tabitha and Patience; brother, Jim Wallace (Marilyn) of Lebo; sister, Linda Berger (Gary) of Wellington; sister, Linda Williams (Bob) of Wichita; mother-in-law, Ida Buttman of Wichita, three step-nephews: Tim Berger of Wichita, Jeff Berger and Mike Berger both of Ortonville, Minnesota, two nephews: Jimmy Wallace of Ottawa and Jarrod Wallace of Casper, Wyoming, two nieces: Susan Berger Johnson of Wellington and Jodi Foster of Republic, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and former husband, Jerry Hoss.

Memorial services for Mary will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Wellington.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her loving memory to the ASPCA, PO Box 96929, Washington DC, 20090-6929. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
