Melinda Holsworth, 55, Wellington: July 14, 1965 – April 22, 2021
Melinda G. Holsworth died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at her home in Wellington at the age of 55.
She was born the daughter of Royal and Gladys (Withrow) Holsworth on July 14, 1965, in Eureka, Calif. Melinda graduated from Wellington High School in 1983, attended Bible College for a while then went back to college later in life and earned an Associate Degree from Cowley College. She was employed for many years by USD 353 where she worked as both a custodian and later as a Para-Professional.
Melinda had a heart for children and she shared her love for them at work and through staying involved in children’s ministry wherever she attended church. To her nieces, nephews and cousins, she was a faithful babysitter and familiar face at their events. Melinda loved being with people and enjoyed her time volunteering at the Wellington Senior Center where she would serve meals in the cafeteria, she looked forward to her coffee groups at McDonald’s and Braum’s and spending time improving her health with the local T.O.P.S group.
She stayed active by going to the gym and riding for miles on the exercise back and by walking numerous laps at Walmart or Lions Century Park. Her faith was such a big part of her life and those that knew her can take comfort in knowing she was faithful to the Lord and has received her reward.
Survivors include her sister, Rhonda Bush and husband Bill of Wellington; brother, Kyle Holsworth and wife Tracie of Wellington; sister, Trina Jackson and husband James of Sedalia, Missouri; sister, Quinta Arebalo and husband Mike of Wellington, nieces, and nephews: Aaron Bush and wife Veronica, Josh Arebalo, Heidi Jackson, Jake Jackson and wife Renee, great-nieces and nephews: Persephone, Zoe, Phoebe, Lydia, and Sophie Bush, Alize Arebalo, Sophie Rains and Jenelle Marie Jackson along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
In honoring Melinda’s commitment to walking and improving her health, all family and friends that are able to are encouraged to meet and walk a lap together at 7 p.m., Tuesday evening, April 27, 2021, at the Lions / Century Park in Wellington.
A memorial service for Melinda will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Wellington Free Will Baptist Church, 802 East 16th Street, Wellington. Private interment will be held at a later time at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington.
