Mike and Donette Cypert home receives $30,000 damage to home due to fire
Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington Fire/EMS responded to a reported structure fire at 223 W. 10th owned by Mike and Donette Cypert.
The structure received $30,000 damage.
911 received the call at 7:34 p.m. Thursday.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the lower level of a two-story home, according to a WFD press release. Upon entering the structure they found fire spreading from the stove up the wall and across the ceiling.
The fire was quickly contained, but the house suffered heavy smoke damage throughout. Three cats were found in the home and firefighters attempted CPR/oxygen but efforts were unsuccessful.
There were no injuries other than the cats.
The cause of the fire appears to be around the stove.
There were 23 emergency personnel on the scene. Mutual aid were received from the Mayfield Fire, Fire District No. 9 (Belle Plaine), and the Oxford fire. Wellington Police, Wellington Electric and Emergency Management were also on the scene.
