National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Sumner County until 9:15 p.m.

Sumner Newscow report — According to precipitation reports, Wellington has received 2.3 inches of rain in the past 24 hours. Also, due to Slate Creek rising, Woods Park will be closed until further notice, likely through Monday.

As of 1:25 p.m. today, the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Sumner County until 9:15 p.m.

The NWS said some locations that will experience flooding include: Winfield, Wellington, Mulvane, Belle Plaine, Conway Springs, Oxford, Udall, Burden, Argonia, Atlanta, Rock, Mayfield, Milan, Cambridge, Riverdale, Winfield City Lake, Perth and Wellington Airport. This also includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 13 and 33.

The forecast is calling for 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5  p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. South southwest wind around 9 mph.
Tonight there will be showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3 a.m.  Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 60. North wind 7 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent according to the NWS.
