Natural Gas leak at Woodlawn Apartments leads to tenant evacuation
Sumner Newscow report — There was a natural gas leak at the Woodlawn Apartment Complex at 815 N. Woodlawn in Wellington at 9:03 a.m. on Friday.
The Wellington Fire Department responded to a natural gas leak on the east side of the apartment complex. During underground boring operations, a natural gas line was severed causing a leak which required the evacuation of 16 units at the apartment complex by police and fire staff.
Fire crews monitored the natural gas levels during the incident and deployed a charged hose line in the event of a fire.
Kansas Gas crews monitored the ground for natural gas migration to the apartments and excavated the area to clamp the gas line.
