(Updated 1-16-13, 9 a.m.) Nunemaker files for Wellington Council; Mangan for Wellington school board
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Two Wellington candidates, one for city council and the other for school board have thrown their hats into the ring of the 2013 local election season. On the Wellington City Council side, incumbent Terry Nunemaker filed for the new at-large six-member city council. Larry Mangan has filed for District 2 Position 5 of the Wellington School board, a position currently occupied by Dixie Blankinship.
Remember, the filing deadline is Jan. 22 at noon for both city council and school boards across Sumner County less than a week away! The election will be held April 2. City candidates file with their city clerks. USD school candidates must file with the election clerk at the Sumner County Clerk’s office at the courthouse in Wellington.
Of note: Nunemaker, who currently serves the soon-to-be-defunct Ward 4, filed to be an at large candidate for the Wellington City Council. All six members of the restructured Wellington city council will all be elected this year – three on four-year terms and three on two-year terms based on the votes received.
