Operation Beautiful celebrates the beautiful things in every girl at WHS on Monday

Submitted to Sumner Newscow — Miranda Bradshaw is the new physical education teacher at Wellington High School.  She loves her job, she loves working with female students and she is ready to help these young women embark on a new project that will hopefully change their lives.   Being a young lady is harder now than ever.  The need to pursue the “perfect you” according to the standards set by society is ever growing.  That pursuit leaves many beautiful girls feeling as if they have fallen short of the mark and that they simply are not good enough.

That is where Operation Beautiful comes in.  Operation Beautiful seeks to celebrate the beautiful things in all of our daughters.  To let them know that they are enough…just the way they are.

On Monday, Wellington High School female are encourage to wear a pink shirt and no make-up to remind people of a woman’s natural beauty. This has two purposes: the project and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Males can also help by wearing pink to support the girls as well as giving compliments. In fact everyone is encouraged to compliment the other.

Hopefully the project sparks new light to how girls and guys view themselves. Hopefully it brings new confidence to themselves and others.

Two Wellington women, Coni Adams and Dena Martens, are seeking sponsorship to purchase a pink “I am Beautiful” t-shirt to be worn on “NO MAKEUP MONDAY” for every girl enrolled in USD 353.  These shirts will be printed this weekend and given to the girls in the high school to start the NO MAKEUP MONDAY and it will spread from there.  There are student ambassadors that will be speaking along with Ms. Bradshaw to the middle school students on Monday as well to kick start their participation in Operation Beautiful.  The total needed for the 900 shirts is $4,500.

We are also seeking donations of STICKY NOTES.  Encouraging words and sayings will be printed on these sticky notes for the girls to put in public places.  Mirrors in their school restrooms, the makeup isle at the store and the windshield of a car…anywhere the girls think they can spread their positive vibes!
