Ottaway Amusements ceases operation, Kansas Wheat Festival secures WEEE entertainment for next summer’s carnival
Sumner Newscow report — The following is a press release by Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Valerie Earl:
———
“The Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB is excited about this year’s 122nd Kansas Wheat Festival, July 5th – 9th. This event is nothing short of a tradition for many people.
We are working on plans and adjusting to some changes. We received news that long-time carnival provider, Ottaway Amusements, has decided to cease its operations. Owner Danny Ottaway is going into retirement and is eager to dedicate more time to his family.
Moving forward, the Chamber has contracted with WEEE Entertainment. They are a family-based, third-generation Kansas-based amusement company, and are excited to provide the Wheat Festival with a carnival. They plan to provide the entire carnival experience including rides, midway games, and concessions. Weee Entertainment has purchased some of their equipment from Ottaway Amusements, so look for your favorites at the fair. Even more exciting news, they will be bringing the desired Ferris Wheel!
We look forward to a great partnership with Weee Entertainment and a great festival in 2022!”
