Oxford nursing home catches on fire last weekend, there were no injuries
Sumner Newscow report — On Saturday, January 13, at 8:09 p.m., a structure fire occurred in a nursing home.
The Wellington Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 200 block S. Ohio St. in Oxford. The structure was a single-story nursing home. The fire was contained to a heater in one of the resident’s rooms, and smoke was contained to a single wing of the facility.
The Wellington fire assisted with shutting off the power and ventilating the wing involved. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. There were no injuries.
There were five personnel on the scene, with one engine and one ambulance. Belle Plaine Fire District 9 and Oxford Fire District 3 also responded to the incident.
