Patricia Hooper, 74, Wichita: March 8, 1946 – Dec. 13, 2020

Patricia L. Hooper, of Wichita, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the age of 74. She was born the daughter of Violet (Conner) and Thaine Taylor on March 8, 1946, in Davenport, Iowa. At a young age, her family relocated to Kansas and settled in the communities of Oxford and Udall. Patricia graduated from Udall High School. She spent her career in the nursing profession where she was employed as a CNA, CMA and later returned to college to receive her license as an LPN.

Patricia primarily worked in nursing homes but was also employed in medical offices. On December 12, 1981, she and Larry Hooper were united in marriage in Garden City. Together they celebrated 27 years of marriage before his passing in 2009. Patricia enjoyed playing BINGO, cross-stitching, and bowling. She was a “lefty” at everything except bowling where she averaged a 180. Patricia loved spending time with her family and especially looked forward to the holidays where her made from scratch rolls and cinnamon rolls were a family hit. She is a loving mother, grandmother, and sister that will be missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Metheny and husband Doug of Haysville; son, Jeff Tipton of Wichita; son, David Tipton of Wichita, grandchildren: Mike Mashak, Jeremy Mashak, Brent Mashak, and Rena Mashak, great-grandchildren: Dayton, Josh, Izzy, Paige, Jacelyn, Dominic and Alexis, 2 sisters: Lola Potucek and Edie Richardson and her brother, Gary Taylor.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brother, JC Adams.

Following cremation, a private interment will take place at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington.
