Paul Joy, Jr., 89, Wellington: Oct. 6, 1926 – April 2, 2016
Paul Joy Jr, of Wellington, died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington at the age of 89.
Paul was born the son of Paul and Flossie (Penwell) Joy, on Wednesday, October 6, 1926 in Coyville, Kans.
He was a proud member of the US Army and served during the Korean War. Paul enjoyed a 25 year career in the aircraft industry and retired from the Wallace Plant at Cessna Aircraft.
On August 19, 1985, Paul and Jovita Lactaoen were united in marriage in New York City. Together they celebrated over 30 years of marriage.
Survivors include his loving wife, JoVita Joy of Wellington, daughter, Nancy Dempsey (James) of Wichita, son, Randy Joy (Julia) of Belle Plaine, son, Craig Joy (Julie) of Mulvane, grandchildren: Joshua Joy (Mollie) of Belle Plaine, Mason Joy of Mulvane, Melissa McGlothlin (Joshua) of Derby, Anna Foster (Marcus) of Derby, Sarah Harlan (Jared) of Belle Plaine, Kansas and nine great-grandchildren. Â
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Herbert, Estel, Sherman and Bill Joy and his sisters: Katherine Sanderson and Anita Kassmeyer.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2016 with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Paul will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016 in the chapel of Cornejo|Day Funeral Home, Wellington.
Graveside services for Paul will be held later that day at 2:00 p.m. in the New Albany (Weakley) Cemetery, New Albany, Kans.Â
A memorial fund has been established in his loving memory to the Wounded Warrior Project. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
