Paul Ledesma, 61, Wellington: Jan. 30, 1960 – Oct. 3, 2021

Paul Ledesma

Paul A. Ledesma died unexpectedly following heart surgery on October 3, 2021, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita at the age of 61.

He was born the son of Alex P. and Peggy A. (Connick) Ledesma on January 30, 1960, in Wellington. At the age of 3, he moved to California where he graduated from Hawthorne High School and later from El Camino Community College. Following college, Paul returned back to Kansas where he has resided since.

Once back in Kansas, Paul and his father owned and operated the Commodore Club in downtown Wellington for many years. After the closing of the club, he started a career in the aviation industry and worked for many years at Clark Manufacturing and was currently employed at GKN Aerospace in Wellington. As a young man, sports was a very important part of Paul’s life. As an adult, he stayed involved with sports by becoming both a referee and coach. Paul was particularly fond of his time coaching in South Haven.

Due to his time in California, he was a big fan of the L.A. Rams which made it difficult for his family in Kansas to find him apparel. Paul loved any time spent with his family but he treasured the time spent with his grandkids. Paul had a welcoming and friendly nature about him which made it easy for him to make friends anywhere he went. He would often just look, point and say, “You Baby, You.” Beyond that, his life experiences allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life and be a part of their journey towards recovery. In his passing, a decision to be a tissue donor will allow Paul to continue helping others. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his companion, Debe Sisson of Wellington; son, Dustin Sisson (Chelsey) of Weatherford, Okla.; daughter, Lacey Hatcher (Will) of Springfield, Missouri; Katie Sisson (Tyler) of Wellington; daughter, Darien Sisson of Wellington, grandchildren: Abriana, Braxton, Blaine, Arianna, Kendrick and Brady; his best friend and dog, Jax; brother, Phillip Ledesma and wife Patricia of Wellington; brother, Peter Ledesma and Becky Glenn of Harbor City, California along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Ledesma and mother, Peggy Ledesma.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2021, with the family present to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.

Funeral services for Paul will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 11, 2021, at the Wellington Free Will Baptist Church, 802 East 16th Street, Wellington. Following the funeral, cremation and a private burial will take place.

Memorial contributions can be made in his name and loving memory to any of the following groups: Wellington Humane Society, Bryce Day Memorial Foundation or the American Heart Association. Contributions can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
