Phillip Wayne “Phil” Reeves of Wellington died on Friday, March 3, 2023, at his home in Wellington at the age of 75.

Phil was born the son of Ernest and Lois (Doom) Reeves on October 10, 1947, in Paris, Arkansas.

On February 18, 1978, Phil and Nancy Brothers were united in marriage in Keller, Texas and celebrated 45 years with one another.

Phil proudly served his country in the US Navy for four years. Upon completion of his service, he served as a law enforcement officer for over 30 years. At that time, he was a K-9 officer, a SWAT/Sniper team member, and worked at the DFW airport as EOD/bomb technician. Some career highlights include being chosen to protect and search the plane of the Pope John Paul ll in 1999 and working on the security detail for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Phil often kept himself busy riding motorcycles, participating in rodeos, playing fastpitch softball, bowling, hunting, fishing, golfing, and helping out on the farm. He also played the bass guitar in multiple bands including Comanche Creek, Marc Baker and Untamed Country, and the Methodist Church praise and worship band on Sunday services. Phil was a huge Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys fan, but he was an even bigger fan of his family and loved the time and memories he shared with them most of all.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Reeves; children: David and Tascha Reeves, Eric Reeves, and Melissa and Craig Meeker; grandchildren: Alexis O’Brian, McKenzie Reeves, Ethan Reeves, Tempie Reeves, Kinsley Reeves, Laney Meeker, Allie Meeker, and Grant Meeker; great grandchild, William Isam; and sister, Sue Kenyon along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lois Reeves, and brother, Ernest Reeves.

There are no services at this time as cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be given in his name to the First United Methodist Church, 202 W. Harvey Ave., Wellington 67152. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
