Special to Sumner Newscow — On behalf of Impact Bank, The Office of the State Bank Commissioner of Kansas and the Office of the Kansas Securities Commissioner, Rane Case of Wellington High School has been selected as a Distinguished Financial Educator in the State of Kansas for 2015-2016.

Only seven, out of more than 360 Financial Literacy teachers in Kansas were chosen for this award.

“Case has been a great advocate for the use of EverFi-Financial Literacy in the Wellington High School and we are lucky to have her educating your students with such a critical life skill,” said Jill K. Turek, Vice President of Impact Bank.  ‘Ever Fi-Financial Literacy is paid for through public-private partnerships between Impact Bank, The Office of the Kansas Securities Commissioner and the Office of the State Bank Commissioner.  The aforementioned partnerships provides unlimited licenses to districts without cost to the school district”

Rane was awarded this honor due to her continued use and advocacy of the financial literacy training materials.  In this past year, she presented the financial literacy program to 59 students.   Over the past three years, she has impacted 137 students and provided 1,123 online lessons that measured their growth around topic areas like investing, financing higher education, understanding what a credit score is and renting versus owning.  Students averaged a 68 percent growth in knowledge grains from pre to post-assessments.

The seven selected teachers have played an integral role in growing the participation rate in their schools for the benefit of the students, the communities and the surrounding regions and the Distinguished Financial Educator Award provides public recognition to secondary school teachers who are furthering excellence in financial education by using best-in-class resources to teach the critical life skill of personal finance and by announcing this award we want to inform the public that these seven teachers have excelled in growing the financial knowledge base of their students and have done so in a way that measures gains in knowledge and assesses changes in attitudes and behavior.

Ashleigh Huck was one of the first students to complete the Ever Fi-Financial Course with Rane Case in 2016. She became a school-to-career employee with Impact Bank and after completing her two-year program at Cowley College, she is now working full-time at Impact Bank while pursuing her accounting degree at Wichita State University.
