Reedy and Provencio attain attorneys; next court date moved to June 11
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Nick Reedy, 33, and Sylvester Provencio, 21, both of Caldwell who are accused of assaulting two men in their 50s, have both attained new attorneys. Subsequently their next scheduled court date has been changed to June 11 at 1:30 p.m.
Both men face three felony charges including aggravated battery, aggravated robbery and
burglary of a vehicle for an attack of Gregory Schneider, 53, and Bryan Nispel, 55 of Caldwell, four miles east of the community on April 22, 2015.
Both Caldwell men were scheduled to appear in court on May 14 after Sumner County District Judge Scott McQuin refused to reduce their bond from $100,000 to $50,000 during their first hearing. Both are still in custody at Sumner County Jail.
Since that first hearing, Provencio has hired Jess W. Hoeme of Wichita to represent him as his defense attorney. The court subsequently granted Hoeme’s request to continue Provencio’s court date to June 11 at 1:30 p.m.
Reedy, who is now represented by Sal Intagliata of Monnat and Spurrier in Wichita, also requested a new court day which will be slated for June 11 at 1:30 p.m.
Provencio and Reedy are accused of attacking Schneider and Nispel, who allegedly had stopped to assist them after they had a white pickup stuck in the mud.
Both Gregory Schneider, 53, and Bryan Nispel, 55 of Caldwell sustained injuries from the alleged attack. See story here.Â
