Robert Clayborn Oliver Jr. (R.C.) of Stockdale, Texas died of cancer on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the age of 81 years. R.C. was born October 18, 1931 to Robert, Sr. and Cleta Oliver in Wellington.

He was a 1949 graduate of Wellington High School and attended Kansas State University. R.C. proudly served in the United States Navy. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. R.C. was a lieutenant in the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Posse and led their award-winning drill team for eight years.

He was also a member of the National Horse Cutting Association and the American Cutting Horse Association for over 20 years. He was inducted into the ACHA Hall of Fame in 2010. R. C. was also a member of the South Texas Trail Riders Association for many years. 

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steven Oliver; and daughter Rhonda Oliver. Surviving to honor his memory are his wife of 37 years, June Oliver; children, son, Clay (Ann) Oliver of Wichita, KS; daughter Terri (Robert) Nation of Haysville, KS; brother, Larry (Beverly) Oliver of Wellington, KS; several grandchildren and nephews. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel-Stockdale.

 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 18, at 1 p.m. at the Robstown Memorial Park in Robstown, Texas.

 

Memories of R.C. will be shared by family and friends at the service.
